Missouri Destinations - St. Louis Zoo

Growing up in the mid west I always thoroughly enjoyed visiting the St. Louis Zoo. As a family, we would have yearly vacations to Six Flags in Eureka Missouri, so a stop at the St. Louis Zoo was a common event along the way.

Zoo's have always seemed to have an appeal for people of all ages. From infant children still in their strollers, to elderly seniors marveling at all of the beauty that all of the zoo's exotic animals have to offer. The beauty of wildlife is not an appreciation that is outgrown as the years pass by. If anything, the mystery of all of the world's inhabitants only grows with age. It is absolutely astonishing how each of the world's animals serve a definite purpose in a delicate global ecosystem.

The St. Louis Zoo in Missouri is well known for how well they care for their animals, and their habitats are simulated in precision detail to create one of the most comfortable and familiar climates as possible for their animals. While it's true that the animals don't get to roam freely around the zoo, I at least take comfort in knowing that I don't have to watch natures food chain in progress! lol

Till this day (and probably why my parents took me to the zoo so often) zoo's are one of the cheapest forms of entertainment that you can take your family to. The St. Louis Zoo, one of the nation's highest rated zoo's, remains one of the top tourist destinations in the United States. Some of the zoo activities include :
  • Discovery Corner - The kids will love petting the friendly bunnies, and feeding the "ever hungry" goats. Watch the butterflies dance, and learn all about the amphibians in their educational displays.
  • River's Edge - Get up close and personal with the elephants as they roam the open fields, the cheetahs go racing by, and hyenas can be seen (and heard) walking by in a stealth-like fashion.
  • The Wild - It is quite fascinating to see these animals in their natural habitats. Penguins, and Puffins can be seen in this frigid part of town. Shortly afterwards you will be in a tropical rain forest habitat observing Apes, Chimpanzees, and Orangutans.
  • Historic Hill - Historic Hill is a very interesting part of the St. Louis Zoo. In modern habits you will see birds, primates, and reptiles in 1920's architecture.
  • Red Rocks - Want to see the big cats? Lions, Tigers, Jaguars, Leopards, and more cats can be seen seen sunning on the rocks, or playing in the fields. Not far from the cats, you can observe zebras, and giraffes grazing with a watchful eye out! Camels, Okapi, Takin, and more.
  • Sea Lion Arena - Watch the Sea Lions perform during the summer season.
  • Chain of Lakes - The always frightening alligators can be seen lurking in the waters looking for prey. River Otters, Swans, Alligator Snapping Turtles, and more.
  • Herpetarium - Here at the St. Louis view you can view reptiles, and amphibians.
  • Bear Bluffs - Grizzly, Black, and Polar Bears in their natural habitats.
  • Africa Nile - Hippos, Rhino, Mongoose, and more.
  • South America - Bush Dogs, Capybara, and Giant Anteaters.

Flamingo Hilton Wildlife Habitat - Free Las Vegas

Flamingo Hilton Wildlife Habitat
I have had the pleasure to travel to Las Vegas several times for a little gambling, shows, and nightlife entertainment. Just letting yourself be taken away in all of the glamor and glitz of the entertainment capital of the world is a fun and exciting way to release the stress of everyday life.

Since I don't have a "limitless bankroll", it's always nice to be aware of some of the fabulously entertaining FREE activities that Las Vegas has to offer. Since I had already set aside my "gambling money, and cash that I have already dedicated to be spent on self indulgence, I set out to find some cheap or free things to do in Vegas.

I didn't have to look long or hard to find some unique and interesting entertainment. We were staying at the Flamingo in the heart of the strip, and directly behind the Flamingo is the Flamingo Hilton Wildlife Habitat. 15 acres of gorgeous waterfalls, penguins, flamingos, swans, and even Penguins (yes penguins!) have habitat controlled areas to call their home. The price of admission is free, and its a good place to take your children and have a great time admiring exotic wildlife in the middle of the desert!

My family easily spent 1 1/2 hours just relaxing, and enjoying the wildlife habitat. The animal habitat is open 24 hours, its FREE, and their is no waiting time. Its hard to beat free, and the Flamingo Hilton Wildlife Habitat is a wonderful (family oriented) way to spend some of your vacation in Las Vegas. Book Your Vacation At The Flamingo In Las Vegas

Las Vegas has so many things to do and see, but its always nice to take a step back from all of the high engergy, fast paced vacation destinations that Vegas has to offer. The wildlife habitat at the Flamingo is a free and wonderful way to spend an hour or two on your Vegas vacation!

Camping In The Grand Canyon

What could be a more exciting and tranquil experience than camping in the Grand Canyon? The majestic Grand Canyon in Arizona is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The Grand Canyon can be explored by mule, by air, motorcoach and jeep tours, or by foot.

Over 5 million people visit the Grand Canyon each year (one of the worlds top vacation destinations), but you can't help but feel very small and obsolete standing next to a canyon that cuts 277 miles through Northern Arizona and is 18 miles wide at its widest point.

It is very easy in today's busy world to overlook all of the natural beauty that lies all around us. I can assure you that just to be in the presence of such an awesome spectacle will not only take your breath away, it will force you to take your entire life into context. You just may look at life in an entirely new perspective after spending a few days camping in the Grand Canyon underneath a masquerading display of stars illuminating the night.

While camping in one of the parks in the Grand Canyon, your days can be as action packed, or as docile as you choose them to be. For the thrill seekers you can hike one of 38 trails, or bike its two rims. Beautiful, mind numbing scenery can be seen throughout the day, with a new surprise seemingly around every corner. The sunsets that can be seen in the evenings shower down cascading rays of colored light across the canyon, that can almost bring a tear to your eye as you breath in the astonishing landscape.

If you don't have the inclination to be on your feet for the entire day (ME!), you can take a horseback or mule ride onto the Grand Canyon's desert floor, and set up camp for the night. Spending a night on the floor of the Grand Canyon gives you a crash course lesson on the meaning of "Time and Space". Wilderness classes can also be taken at the Grand Canyon that will teach you all about the Grand Canyon and will help enhance your vacation experience. The experts that teach these class teach you about photography, art, and the cultural history of the canyon. Most of these classes include overnight backpacking stays. There are lodging options for those looking for a less strenuous educational adventure.

Air tours are also available to get an overhead view of one of the world's most popular vacation destinations.

Rafting and "Dory" adventures are an option for those looking for an exhilarating adventure on the river. Dory boats are rigid boats designed for four people with plenty of room for supplies and gear.

An adventure in the Grand Canyon is an experience that can't be summed up with words alone. Its a feeling of immense mortality letting us know that long after we are gone, the Grand Canyon will always be there to teach the generations ahead of us about the treasures that life beholds us if we only open our eyes and allow the beauty to come in.

Kingda Ka - Fastest Roller Coaster In The World

King Da Ka World's Fastest Roller Coaster
Are you a thrill seeker? Do you feel the need for speed? Today I am listing the fastest roller coaster in the world, along with my review. Amusement parks are popular vacation destinations, and the Kinda Ka is one of the elite, fastest, and most terrifying roller coasters in the world for the true adrenaline junkie!

KINGDA KA - The Kingda Da, is unarguably the fastest and tallest roller going to talk about the fastest roller coaster on the planet. Just imagine being vertically launched 45 stories high in only 3.5 seconds (1.67 g's at 128 miles per hour!!!!!), and then you experience being weightless as you descend 270 feet in a downward spiraling, stomach wrenching, fashion. The Kingda Ka is truly a rocket coaster in every sense of the word.

The only complaints about Kingda Ka is that the thrill ride is too short. I have read that the ride lasts 57 seconds, but I believe 35 seconds would probably be more accurate. Also, the lines can be very long at Six Flags Great Adventure Amusement Park needs to be said?

Word of caution : This thrill ride will not be in operation with even the slightest rain, since the speed of the roller coaster will cause discomfort as the rain drops hit you while you are going 128 miles per hour!

Buy The World's Wildest Roller Coasters Book - Theme and Amusement Parks

Kingda Ka is located at Great Flags Great Adventure Amusement Park in Jackson Township, New Jersey. If your happen to be in the North Eastern area of the country I would strongly suggest taking the time to head out to the Great Flags Great Adventure Theme Park in New Jersey to ride the tallest and fastest roller coaster on earth.
